Frustrated with Google Business Listings
We're a Orange County Web Design firm located in Huntington Beach, so this post is related to the Web Design Industry and Google. It's not so much a post, as more a Rant about Googles practice punishing Web Designers listed in their business listings.
I'm currently very frustrated with Google and trying to understand why they removed the Business Listings Map for Web Designers that used to be on keyword specific businesses using a City in the keyword. I have a theory that the pages containing these Business Listing Maps weren't performing to Googles standards, meaning that where the Map appeared, Googles Pay Per Click Ads weren't getting clicked. So Google just says, "well lets just turn the Maps feature for the Business Listings off, problem solved." Well in doing so, they've now killed the lead flow and phone calls I was getting from the Business Listing Map for Web Designers.
It took me a little while to figure out what was going on, but then I started performing searches like a client would and there it was, plain as day, the Business Listings Maps for Web Designers was gone. They offer the Maps for other Services, just not Web Designers any longer. Here's an example of the Map I'm referring too, this is for Interior Designers - Click Here! You'll see the difference if you clicked the link above.
So this blog post is a direct rant at Google, that they're killing my business and many others, to be greedy. There's really no other reason to remove these Maps and listings. They were extremely beneficial to both the person looking for local business services and the companies listed on them.
Google, bring back the Business Listing Maps for Web Designers for the keywords involving a City...!
